Untitled [Eddington] extends Gregory Crewdson’s practice into the realm of cinema through a rare collaboration with filmmaker Ari Aster. Conceived as an original artwork for Eddington, the image brings Crewdson’s unmistakable language of staged realism into a new context – not as a film still, but as an autonomous work shaped by a shared aesthetic sensibility.
The project was produced in collaboration with A24, combining Crewdson’s own director of photography and lighting team with the film’s production and art department. That fusion of disciplines is felt in the result: an image that reads like a moment from a story you arrive in mid-sentence, rich with implied before-and-after.
As a limited edition fine art print, the work offers collectors a direct entry into Crewdson’s cinematic universe, anchored by the presence of Joaquin Phoenix in his role as Joe Cross. The digital pigment process preserves tonal nuance and photographic depth, emphasising the controlled drama and clarity that define Crewdson’s images.
