Jellyfish Eyes Black 1 (2004) sits right in the sweet spot of Takashi Murakami’s early-2000s output—an era where his “Superflat” language became instantly recognisable worldwide. Murakami’s practice collapses the boundaries between fine art and commercial culture, drawing equally from traditional Japanese visual heritage and the high-gloss vocabulary of anime, manga, and contemporary branding.
